• DIvision 2: Runners-up 2007/08

As you may be aware the village of Tripimeni has now formed a football team known as FC Tripimeni and was granted status to the KOPA Football League in May 2007. As of circa mid September 2007 you will start to see and hear the name of the team bantered around the Greek community, I am sure, and in the Parikiaki, LGR etc etc.

In the summer of 2009, the Club merged with Aris (London) and are now called Tripimeni.

Background Of the Village

Trispimeni is a small but very proud village located in the north west of Cyprus forming part of the Famagusta region (now in Turkish hands unfortunately). The population of the village at its peak was circa 500 persons, some 60 families. The nearest major city which most people are familiar with is Famagusta with its Town Centre being some 30 miles distant. Other nearby villages include Ayios Nicholas, Ayios Avrosios an Lefkoniko The village is bounded by mountains and picturesque green fields. Across the mountain range of Bentathaktalos (5 fingers) is the forested village of Ayios Avrosios which boasts a gorgeous sea line. All sounds a bit like wish you were here!! Anyway.

The actual name of the village is Trispimeni (with an S) which means 3 shepherds. The village was founded, I am informed, when 3 shepherds decided to set up camp, as it were, on a small hill and from there they lived their lives and the village grew. Thus the name of the village Trispimeni. The village is very famous for the production of apricots which were sold across the region and in every Sainsburys store in England. Only kidding!! . Enough of the geography now and on with the football.!!!!

Our Goal

To win the 2nd division this year and within two years win the first division championship, thereafter maintain our status as first division champions. We hope to be within 3 – 4 years be the dominant force in our KOPA league. How are we going to achieve this.? The same way as any organisation or business flourishes. Hard work, commitment, good communication, the highest level of organisation, having the right staff (players) within our team, maximum motivation, persistence. I could go on but I think you know the rest. We can all, I am sure, put together a long list of the type of people and characteristics we definitely need to have around us if we are to be successful and those we can do without.

Team Members/Committee

A full list of the current team players, chairman secretary is attached, the Chairman is Angelos Yianni who is my uncle. The team is mainly being funded by my Angelos Yianni and my family. We will have a village/football dinner and dance once a year to further assist raising additional funds.
